Dissemination of Science and Practice
Maximizing access, scale up and uptake of effective injury and violence prevention solutions can narrow injury disparities and impact the safety and health of large populations. To this end, CCISP both creates innovative science and conducts a variety of activities to see that known effective injury and violence prevention solutions reach scientists and injury prevention practitioners serving all communities, but particularly those most impacted by injury and violence disparities.
Annual Symposiums
The Columbia University based Injury Center has been holding in-person and virtual annual symposiums for nearly a decade. These symposiums provide a forum for disseminating new science and innovative programmatic approaches to promoting scale up of injury and violence prevention.
Workshops and Presentations
Through workshops and presentations at regional, national, international scientific and policy gatherings and at community and neighborhood meetings, our scientists translate their scientific findings to audiences ranging from injury and violence prevention practitioners, fellow scientists, lawmakers, the media and to the communities they serve. A selection of these presentations is listed here.
Multimodal Scholarship
CCISP disseminates scientific research and practice through various media platforms. These include the (RE)Search for Solutions Podcast, narrated PowerPoints and Videos.
Select Publications
Our scientists have advanced the science of injury and violence prevention and shared these advances through peer- reviewed publications. These address the areas of adverse childhood events, overdose, motor vehicle safety including impaired driving, older adults falls, violence including suicide, homicide, firearms, equity, disparities, and many other issues of safety. A selection of these publications is listed here.
